Protest ALEC member Erik Paulsen (r-mn) tomorrow !

MEDIA ADVISORY FOR                             CONTACT: Patrick Murphy–612-333-0144
Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Minnesota Residents mobilize to stop Republicans from causing America to default
Participants to protest at ALEC & Chamber of Commerce member Rep. Paulsen’s office.

Why?  Rep. Erik Paulsen is a member of ALEC and the Chamber of Commerce, two organizations that falsely claim to be non-partisan, financially supporting almost exclusively Republicans.  Rep. Paulsen has avoided contact with progressive members of his district in the past, refusing to meet and holding “public” meetings only in the most remote areas of the district where the fewest live.

MoveOn.org is coordinating with other local organizations to demand Paulsen not behave like a corporate puppet, but instead represent the 98% of Minnesotans and Americans who need a realistic solution to the Debt Ceiling problem.  The tiny portion who have financed his past elections along with Speaker of the House John Boehner support their current stubborn stance that millionaires and huge corporations pay not a penny more instead of their fair share after decades of tax decreases, subsidies, and bailouts.

We hope to have at least 1 member from most of the 70 national and local Rebuild the Dream partners in addition to local MoveOn.org members and concerned citizens of Paulsen’s district.  This is part of national day of action with members visiting Congressional offices around the country.
